Here's an
adaptation of a short section from István Lukovich's Electric
Foil Fencing: Advanced Competitive training. Here
Lukovich illustrates the ripostes possible
after parrying an attack to the high outside
line. He gives just as much attention to righty vs. lefty matchups!

Simple
Ripostes -- to the upper target
a. Rarely is this a simple straight thrust, because the
riposte generally meets the opponent's blade and the action finishes
as a glide.thrust (Fig. 64,
above)

b. With
a coupé (cutover) -- not
illustrated c. With an
angular thrust to the base of the neck (Fig. 65,
above) [Editor's Note:Many contemporary fencers use the
flick ("thrown thrust") rather than the pronated position
illustrated.]
Simple Ripostes -- to
the lower target a. Straight thrust with flèche (Fig. 66,
above) b. Angular thrust
with lunge to the low inside (Fig. 67,
below)
.
c. Angular thrust
with lunge to the low outside (Fig. 68,
below) d..
With copertino; [Editor's note -- see Glossary: a transfer to
seventh and glide thrust to the low outside line (Fig. 69,
below)
